Drumsum will be playing at The Star of India Restaurant on Friday, Oct 17. Dancing to our music will be Dancers from Obsidian Butterfly. The $20 cost includes all you can eat buffet (which opens at 7:30 pm) and the show (which starts at 8 pm). This is the best India restaurant in the Sacramento area! The food is varied and cooked in a healthy way. Plenty of vegetables for the vegetarian and vegans. Though this is a buffet, you can still order from the menu. If you haven’t tried Indian food, this is the perfect way to start. Sample everything! Like most all Indian restaurants, the food has been ‘spiced down’ (as in HOT!!, not in flavor) for America’s love of the bland. They create performances that weave our many talents into one production. Their shows are an alchemical blend of ecstatic expression through movement and dance, poetic storytelling, music, fire, ritual, ancient mystery, and everyday life. No show is the same. The end result is a beautiful dance and a mind blowing experience. Their usual venue is to dance with fire props. DRUMSUM (www.drumsum.com) BRINGING RHYTHM INTO YOUR LIFE Drumsum interprets rhythms from around the world with vocals, didgeridoos, flutes, djembes, congas, doumbecs, other percussion and melodic instruments, providing a combination of mediative, trance dance, and/or multi cultural rock music. Depending on the venue, they can have you on a interpersonal exploration of your self or dancing in ecstasy. Drumsum has been playing the Bay Area and Northern California for the past five years. They have played at private events of a few people to crowds of over 300. Blending ancient instruments with electronics, they perform songs from trance inducing rhythms to jump up dance beats. Drumsum brings Drum Circles and Percussion Performances to your group or venue. Our band Drumsum, is a 5-7 member band that interpetes various rhythms from around the world with Vocals, Didgeridoos, Percussion, and melodic instruments, providing meditative, trance dance, and multi cultural rock music. We have performed for the Blood Moon Zoo, Sacramento's Fire Spectacular, SWAN Day, Rocking the Gateway, Fairy Mid-Summer Festival, Harvest Festival, Temple San Francisco, 1st Annual Shakerman's Festival, First Night Martinez, 2nd Saturday Art @ the Brickhouse, Gumbo Parade in Benicia,and numerous Horse Cow events. We mainly have been playing in the Sacramento Area for Obsidian Butterfly ,an outstanding Fire Dance Troupe.
